Job Posting: Executive Director, Pennsylvania Society of Physician Associates (PSPA)
Location: Pennsylvania (Hybrid/Remote with some travel requirements)
Reports To: Board of Directors
Position Type: Flexible with part-time or full-time hours
The Pennsylvania Society of Physician Associates (PSPA) is seeking an Executive Director (ED) who is a PA-C or retired PA-C to oversee the organization in fulfilling its mission to advocate, educate, and support the physician associate (PA) profession across the state. Under the direction of the PSPA Board of Directors, the Executive Director will work with the support of an association management company (AMC) plus an extensive and dedicated group of volunteers.
Founded in 1975, the PSPA is dedicated to promoting the value of PAs in the healthcare system and providing resources for PAs and students throughout Pennsylvania. The Executive Director will play a key role in advancing the PSPA’s strategic goals, advocating for the PA profession, and overseeing the day-to-day management of the Society.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Oversight
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the PSPA, ensuring alignment with the mission and strategic plan.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to guide the PSPA’s strategic direction, reviewing and updating the PSPA Action Plan biennially.
Foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
Represent the PSPA at state and national meetings, including those of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and other relevant healthcare and professional organizations.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for advancing the PA profession in Pennsylvania, including legislation and regulations.
Advocacy & Governmental Affairs
Coordinate the PSPA’s advocacy efforts working with lobbyists and the Governmental Affairs Committee to monitor healthcare legislation and regulations.
Develop and distribute legislative alerts, provide expert testimony, and support the PSPA’s Political Action Committee (PAC).
Engage in outreach to ensure the PA profession is well-represented in healthcare policy
Continuing Education & Professional Development
Lead the content planning of the PSPA’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, including the annual CME conference, mini-CME series, and other educational events.
Work with the Education Subcommittee to identify topics, solicit speakers, and evaluate CME program integrity.
Foster the development of leadership and mentoring programs for PAs, students, and early career professionals.
Additional Responsibilities:
Depending on the candidate selected, their availability, and their skills, the following additional responsibilities may be shared by an Executive Director and a supporting AMC.
Membership Engagement & Growth
Oversee membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies to ensure the PSPA meets its goals for membership growth and participation.
Develop initiatives to increase member involvement.
Enhance member satisfaction and raise awareness of the PSPA’s benefits and resources.
Financial & Operational Management
Assist the PSPA Treasurer in financial operations, ensuring sound fiscal management and long-term financial health.
Work with the Treasurer and Board to set sustainable pricing structures for contracts, membership dues, conferences, and other services.
Maintain accurate member data, financial records, and event registrations.
Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including responding to inquiries, processing memberships, and coordinating meetings.
Public Relations & Communications
Collaborate on communication efforts, including quarterly newsletters, email blasts, and social media, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the PSPA’s mission and goals.
Enhance the visibility and brand recognition of the PSPA within the healthcare landscape, collaborating with external organizations and stakeholders.
Coordinate with the PSPA’s website specialists to develop digital content, ensuring members and the public have access to up-to-date information about the organization and the PA profession.

Requirements
Required:
Certified Physician Assistant
PSPA member
Leadership role or management experience
Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape in Pennsylvania, including relevant legislation and regulations affecting Physician Associates
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including members, healthcare providers, legislators, and other professional organizations
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership and collaboration skills
Preferred:
Advanced degree or training such as MBA, MHA, Doctorate, or leadership certification
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google ecosystem, membership databases, and online conference platforms
Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and fundraising
Experience in advocacy, public policy, and working with lobbyists and government officials
Experience managing continuing medical education (CME) programs or similar educational initiatives
